Immersive Experience, May 2024
Living Dreams
"Living Dreams" is an immersive audio visual installation that is meant to inspire participants to look within themselves to find their meaning, purpose and dreams in life. This was my Capstone Project in Grad School.
Concept
"Living Dreams" is a three part multimedia art installation that captures some of the main overarching themes of my time as a graduate student. Viewers walk into an immersive experience with live manipulation of audio reactive visuals and light. The experience is meant to take the viewer through three phases: Reflection, Passion and Dreams.
Reflection
Spend time reflecting on yourself and your life, open your eyes and see that there is life in you and around you.
Passion
The next phase takes you through a highly stimulated experience where you feel the drive and passion with dynamic audio reactive visuals.
Dreams
Sit in a heavenly dream like atmosphere to spend time reflecting on your dreams in life. Some questions to trigger thought are seen on the floor.
Live performance
Since the journey of reflection, finding your passion and following your dreams looks different for everyone, I was live manipulating the visuals on screen so it is a different experience for everyone.
Installations Elements
Audio Reactive Visuals
Audio + Touchdesigner
Audio was generated using Stable Audio, an AI music generating platform. Freaking cool to see AI make really good music with the prompts given. Used touchdesigner to make generative video that is reactive to the audio.
Live Performance
Three projectors + Midi controller
+ DMX controller
The whole performace was for three minutes, a minute for each phase. It was performed repeatedly for different groups of audience.
It was a task and a half for my computer to have so many things plugged in.
☆ Three projectors
☆ Camera input
☆ Speakers
☆ Midi Controller
Also used a DMC Cntroller
Process and Involvement
I worked worked independantly to bring my vision to life.
The best part of this project was all the late nights and the random side quests I went on. I learned how to mix music because the project called for a certain aesthetic, and I had to edit the AI generated music to be different.
